Synthesis of molecular nanostructures that exhibit properties controlled by quantum effects, such as quantum interference; magnetic behaviour of large molecules with several localised and/or delocalised spin centres; charge transport through single molecule devices controlled by quantum interference; aromaticity and persistent ring currents in molecular nanostructures. My group focusses on synthesis, spectroscopy and physical organic chemistry. We work closely with other groups in Oxford to explore the quantum behaviour of our compounds, particularly those of Christiane Timmel, Lapo Bogani, Andrew Turberfield, Arzhang Ardavan, and Laura Herz.
